The AHF is a non-profit organization founded in 1946 by Virginia Wood, Elizabeth Nutting, and Margaret Hutchison, whose goal was to build a community from the ground up, of like-minded folks wanting to establish a lifestyle that was simple and close to nature. That goal was acheived and is still thriving today, 60 years later!
The Town of Melbourne Village Historical Preservation Commission keeps and maintains a treasury of photos, documents, and memorabilia collected over the years. They meet on the 1st Thursday of every month at 7:00 pm at the Hester Wagner Community House. Click here to read about The Annual Historic Walk.
We hope to preserve this valuable part of our community and make it accessible to all residents by scanning and archiving everything possible. This will be a time-consuming task, but well worth the effort. Please check back and watch our progress.
We are also working to have a brief history of the AHF and the town available here online in the near future. Two books on the sujbect are:
